What Does the "Cannot resolve default dashboard host name via DNS" Error Mean?

Follow

"Cannot resolve default dashboard host name via DNS: firmware-ng will use the fallback IP instead."

This error is usually a sign that there's a problem with the local DNS settings that are preventing the nodes from getting a timely response resolving Cloudtrax.com. This can be caused by high traffic on the network or just a temporary error with your local DNS settings. If the network is functioning normally the error can usually be disregarded and it will go away in a short time.

If the error persists or clients are having trouble resolving DNS the problem can usually be resolved by adding an alternate DNS server on the Advanced tab in Cloudtrax. Some popular public DNS services are Google DNS at 8.8.8.8 or OpenDNS at 208.67.222.222.

I am getting the same error and the solution didn't work. I am using Cloudtrax 4. I only have one SSID enabled. One of my access points has the errors "Can't resolve controller DNS!" and "Can't resolve alternate controller DNS!"

Under "Config > SSID 1> Advanced > Alternate DNS" I have entered 8.8.8.8

Under "Config > Advanced > Alternate Servers > Alternate DNS" I have entered 8.8.8.8

The router to which my Gateway is connected uses these DNS servers for DHCP clients: 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4.

I get the above errors and they seem go away by themselves after awhile. But it's odd that they keep coming up randomly. I wonder what it means and whether it affects end user performance?

I don't know if it's related, but when the Access Point (repeater) gets that error message, the Mesh Speed drops down to 352 Kbps (Now) when it is normally 3.6 Mbps (Avg).

Peter- it sounds like your problem coincides with a temporary connection problem due to interference. You might try changing to another less congested channel or moving the repeater closer to the gateway if you can.

Hi, I am also getting this error. We have just implemented OpenDNS. Which specific domains are you looking for?
